New discoveries about fiber-rich food and proper functioning of our brain

There has been a significant interest in connection what we eat with how our brain functions, how it affects our behavior and mood. In a recent article by Hara Estroff Marano (The Long Reach of Short-Chain Fats, Psychology Today, 2024) she explaines how short-chain fatty acids are the major messengers to our brain from our gut. They influence our energy level, our response to stress, our mood. The way how we can control the proper functioning of our gut and so that "quality messages" to our brain is through a fiber-rich diet, plant-rich diet, prebiotic-rich foods, and physical exercise.
